Can the rewards rate change over time?

Updated over a week ago

The rewards rate or Annual Percentage Yield (APY) displayed in the Crypto Earn Account represent the potential returns you can earn by staking your crypto. However, it’s important to understand that those are not guaranteed and can change over time.

What is APY?

The Annual percentage Yield (APY) is the annualised rate of return you could earn from staking your crypto. It includes rewards generated from participating in the blockchain staking process. The APY shown in the Vivid app is already adjusted for fees and represents the net return on invested coins.

Are APYs guaranteed?

No, APYs are not guaranteed. They are estimates based on the current conditions of the blockchain protocol. Here’s why they can change:

  • Protocol fluctuations: Rewards are determined by the blockchain protocols, which can vary over time.

  • Market conditions: Changes in the network’s activity, validator performance, or other external factors can impact the reward rates.

Can APYs change?

Yes, APYs can change at any time without prior notice. While the Vivid app will always display the most up-to-date APY for each asset listed, the rate may fluctuate after you begin staking. This means your actual returns may be higher or lower than the initially displayed APY.

How can I stay informed about APY changes?

  1. Check the list of assets inside the app regularly for updated APYs.

  2. Make sure you have your app notifications turned on.

  3. Keep in mind that the APY is calculated on a daily basis, so small variations may occur over time.

Can a staking crypto-asset be delisted?

Yes. Any crypto-asset available for staking is still subject to Vivid’s delisting rules:

  1. Advance notice – We will try our best to give you as much notice as possible*. As soon as we have confirmed the de-listing, we will e-mail you and show an in‑app banner with the delisting date.

  2. Buying is immediately disabled – You can no longer buy the crypto-asset in .

  3. Grace period – Until the deadline specified to you, you may sell the crypto-asset.

  4. Automatic sale – After the deadline, Vivid automatically sells any remaining balance at market price and the proceeds are credited to your main daily account.

*In urgent cases required by law, a regulator, or an unforeseen external event we may close positions immediately without prior notice.

Can APY stop for a coin without delisting it?

In rare cases we may have to suspend APY payments on a particular coin—for example, if our staking partner no longer supports that network or the protocol changes its economics. If this happens:

  • Rewards already accrued will remain in your account.

  • You can sell the coin or keep holding it; you simply will not earn new rewards until the staking possibility resumes (if ever).
