Vivid Tax is a feature that lets customers registered in Germany with a Freelancer account prepare and submit their returns directly from the Vivid app—fast, guided, and without an Elster login.
Eligibility & requirements
Self-employed in Germany (freelancers/sole proprietors).
A valid Steuernummer for self-employment activity.
What can you do with Vivid Tax?
Prepare and submit an advance VAT return (UStVA) for monthly or quarterly periods, and a Recapitulative Statement (ZM) for EU B2B sales on a quarterly basis.
Use prefilled data from your Vivid transactions, with the option to add or recategorize transactions.
See exactly what’s being filed (outputs vs. inputs/Vorsteuer) before you submit.
File electronically from the app—no personal Elster login is required.
Save a submission confirmation/receipt for your records.
Which tax returns are supported?
Right now, Vivid Tax allows you to submit advance VAT returns (Umsatzsteuervoranmeldung) for periods from January 2025 onwards. Annual tax declarations (including income declaration) are planned to be available in 2026 for the 2025 tax filing.
You can also submit a Recapitulative Statement (Zusammenfassende Meldung / ZM) for EU B2B sales on a quarterly basis, provided you have a VAT number (USt-IdNr) set up in your tax profile. If you have no EU sales in a given quarter, no ZM submission is required — German law does not permit empty ZM filings.
How much does it cost?
Vivid Tax is available for no extra cost.
Getting support
Vivid Tax is self-filing software. Our customer support team can help with the submission process (e.g. adding transactions, submission flow), but cannot provide personal tax advice or assess what’s “correct” for your business.
For tailored advice, please consult an independent tax professional.
