What is DATEV-Buchungsdatenservice?
Until now, the DATEV integration synced your documents — receipts, invoices, and notes — to DATEV Unternehmen Online via the Belegbilderservice. Your bookkeeping entries still had to be exported manually and handed to your tax advisor.
With the new Buchungsdatenservice (BDS), you can push your reviewed bookkeeping entries (Buchungsstapel) directly from Vivid into DATEV Rechnungswesen — no manual file download, and no manual import by your tax advisor.
Note: This feature is available in Germany only, and applies to the same DATEV integration you already use for documents. One connection covers both services.
What's the difference between the two services?
Belegbilderservice (existing): syncs your documents — receipts, invoices, notes — automatically and continuously to DATEV Unternehmen Online.
Buchungsdatenservice (new): pushes the bookkeeping entries linked to those documents to DATEV Rechnungswesen. This runs manually — you choose a period and start the push yourself.
Before you start
Two things need to be in place before the push option becomes available:
Your DATEV integration is connected and Active in Vivid.
Your tax advisor has activated Buchungsdatenservice for your DATEV client (Mandant).
Important: A successful connection on Vivid's side is not enough on its own. Buchungsdatenservice must be switched on from the DATEV side, and only your tax advisor can do that for your DATEV client. Vivid cannot enable it for you. If you don't see the push option, the first thing to check is whether your tax advisor has activated Buchungsdatenservice.
If you connected DATEV before this feature launched, you'll also need to reconnect once to grant an additional permission required for pushing bookings. Your document sync keeps working during this step.
How to push your bookkeeping entries to DATEV?
Open the DATEV settings: Go to the Bookkeeping section, click the gear (settings) icon, then open Auto-export to DATEV.
Start the push: In the Push bookings to DATEV section, click Push to DATEV.
Select a period: Choose a start date and end date for the entries you want to send.
Confirm: Only entries marked as Reviewed within that period are included — unreviewed entries are skipped. The push then runs in the background.
Check the result: Open Show sync history in the side sheet to see the period, timestamp, status, and entry and document counts for each push.
Your bookings will appear in DATEV Rechnungswesen for your tax advisor, linked to the documents already synced via Belegbilderservice.
Most Frequently Asked Questions
The integration says Active, but there's no "Push to DATEV" button. Why? Buchungsdatenservice hasn't been activated on the DATEV side. Only your tax advisor can switch it on for your DATEV client (Mandant). If your connection is older (documents only), you'll also need to reconnect once to grant the new permission.
Can Vivid activate Buchungsdatenservice for me? No. It's a DATEV-side setting that only your tax advisor can enable. Please reach out to your advisor.
Do I need a separate connection for documents and bookings? No. One DATEV connection covers both. The bookings push is an extension of the same integration.
Is the push automatic, like the document sync? No. Documents sync continuously, but bookings are pushed manually — you pick a period and click Push to DATEV.
What exactly gets pushed? Bookkeeping entries marked as Reviewed within the period you select, sent as a Buchungsstapel with links to the documents already synced to DATEV. Unreviewed entries are excluded.
My tax advisor can't see the bookings in DATEV. Check your push history — confirm the push was successful and the period matches. Bookings land in DATEV Rechnungswesen (not Belege Online). If the push succeeded and your advisor still can't see them, please contact our support team.
I pushed the same period twice — will there be duplicates? Only if you explicitly confirmed a re-push past the duplicate warning. If needed, your tax advisor can discard the duplicate batch in DATEV.
My push failed or came through only partially. What should I do? Open the error details in your push history. If it's something you can fix (for example, reviewing entries), correct it and use Retry. If it keeps failing, contact our support team with the push timestamp and error message.
Who can use this feature? It's available in Germany only, for owner, admin, and assistant roles — the same as the wider DATEV integration.
