Cash Management: How are my balance and yield calculated?

Everything on the Overview tab is calculated from your live account balances. Here is what goes into each figure.

Total balance

Your total balance is the sum of the available balances across all of your accounts, shown in euro.

It includes:

  • cash on your Money Accounts

  • balances on your Interest Accounts

  • the market value of the assets you hold on Strategic (Business Brokerage, Model Portfolio, Crypto Earn) accounts, valued at the most recent closing price

  • If a transaction is Pending, it is considered “Successful” for the purpose of calculating the total balance. For example, if an incoming transfer has the status Pending, it will be included in the total balance.

Yield

Yield shows what your money has earned over a period. The default period is this calendar year, and you can also choose this month, year to date, or all time.

It is made up of:

  • interest accrued on your Interest Accounts

  • dividends received on your Strategic accounts

  • the change in value of the assets you hold on Strategic accounts, comparing the price at the end of the period with the price at the start

Because asset values move, yield can be negative. If your Strategic accounts fell in value over the period, and that fall is larger than the interest and dividends you earned, the figure you see will be below zero.

You can also see yield broken down by account type, so you can tell how much came from your Reserve accounts and how much from your Strategic ones.

If you hold accounts in several currencies

Your total balance, the allocation chart and all percentages are shown in euro.

Balances held in other currencies are converted using the exchange rate of the day you open the page, so the figures are refreshed each time the page loads. In the account lists, each account is shown in its own currency, with no conversion.

Allocation

The doughnut chart shows what share of your total balance sits in each account type. Select any segment to see the accounts behind it.

Below it, the bar chart shows how your allocation has changed over the last six months, based on your balance at the end of each month.
