With our new Card Management feature, you can easily control each card and set specific spending limits for yourself and your team members. You can adjust the card’s limit or security settings only through the App:
In the App, simply scroll down to the My Card section.
Select the card.
Scroll down to locate the section Spend Control
Keep in mind only the Owner or Admin role can edit card limits and security settings. Assistants or Employee roles will have the option to request from you a higher limit if needed, you can read more about this here. In addition to that, card limits cannot exceed the predefined default limits set for card usage. For more information on default limits, go here.
This feature is available to Freelancers and General Business customers who are on the Pro tariff plan or higher. If you don’t have a Pro tariff plan or higher, you will be able to set a monthly limit as usual.
Spend Limits
You can define how much a cardholder is allowed to spend within a day, week, or calendar month. You can choose the frequency that best fits each employee’s role and responsibilities within your company, giving you flexible control tailored to individual needs. You can also define separate spending limits for card purchases and ATM withdrawals, giving you more precise control over how funds are used.
Purchase Limits
You can also set a maximum amount for individual transactions. If a cardholder attempts to make a purchase that exceeds this per-transaction limit, the payment will be automatically declined.
Merchant Control
Category Limits: You can specify the spending categories in which the card is allowed to be used. These categories are determined by the Merchant Category Code (MCC) assigned to each merchant.* Any transaction that falls under a disabled category will be automatically declined. In case this happens the decline reason will indicate why. Some category examples are:
Flights & hotels
Grocery stores & Office supply stores
Restaurants & cafes
Fuel and car services
Marketing & ads
For more categories, click here.
Merchant Limits: You can restrict the card to be used only with selected merchants. For example, a card can be issued exclusively for paying a Jira or Amazon subscription. Any transactions attempted with merchants outside the approved list will be automatically declined. Merchant is identified by name, based on “technical rules, regular expressions” and MCC (sometimes)
Security & Payment
You can configure security settings to control which types of transactions are permitted on the card. You may choose to enable all transaction types, allow only selected ones, or restrict the card to a single specific transaction type, depending on your needs.
Contactless payment: Transactions without chip and PIN
ATM withdrawal: Cash withdrawals from ATMs
Online Transactions: Using card details for online purchases

* The MCC (Merchant Category Code) is a four digit number used to classify transactions. These codes allow merchants and businesses to be classified according to the type of goods or services they provide. MCC codes are established by each merchant, not by Vivid Money.
