If a rule has not run as you expected, you will see a warning next to it in the Transfer rules tab and the reason. There are a few reasons this could happen.
There was not enough money on the account
Rules do not run partially. If the first transfer in a rule cannot be made, the remaining transfers in that rule are not attempted either.
Example: if you have two rules set up for your Main Account
Transfer 500 EUR to the Interest Account on Monday
Transfer 100 EUR to the Spending Account on Monday
If the balance of the Main Account on Monday is 300 EUR, neither of the two rules will be triggered.
One of the accounts is no longer available
A rule cannot run if one of the accounts it uses has been closed or blocked. The rule is not removed but you can edit it to choose a different account, or delete it if you no longer need it.
Another rule used the money first
Rules run in the order they appear in your list, from the top down. If a rule higher up moves money out of an account that a rule further down needs, the second rule has nothing to work with and does not run. If you have several rules using the same account, it is worth checking that the amounts and timings leave room for all of them.
The transfer was rejected
Occasionally a transfer is rejected while it is being processed. The limits that apply to your accounts also apply to transfers made by a rule, so a transfer that would go over one of those limits cannot be made.
What happens after a rule fails?
The rule stays active. It does not try again straight away, but it will run again at its next scheduled time or trigger, and the warning disappears by itself once a run succeeds.
Will I be told when a rule does not run?
If you notice a rule did not fire, check the Transfer Rules tab. A rule that did not fire will show an error message. Currently there is no separate notification when a rule does not run. You do receive your usual transaction notifications for any transfers that were made.
